Mumbai City FC’s winning run came to a halt as Atletico De Kolkata held them to a draw at the Mumbai Football Arena. Both sides arrived at the match unbeaten, while Mumbai won both of their matches keeping clean sheets in both of them, ATK came to the match after a draw and a win against Kerala Blasters.

Both of the sides started the match positively with Leo Costa and Doutie showing their intentions early in the match. Controversy soon followed when ATK keeper Debjit Majumder apparently tripped Boithang Haokip in a one on one situation, but the referee waved play on denying Mumbai City FC’s penalty appeals. Soon, Haokip came close but shot the framework instead in another one on one situation.

Mumbai City FC’s efforts soon paid off as Matías Defederico’s left footed effort from outside the box found the corner of the net at the 28th minute. Mumbai was unfortunate to not to get a penalty when Debjit again fouled Haokip as he got the ball from a fatal error on Debjit’s part and nicked it ahead of him.

As Atletico De Kolkata tried hard to find the equalizer MCFC was happy to sit back and absorb the pressure. MCFC defence showed why they have not conceded a single goal in the tournament till now by standing tall in the face of all the ATK attacks except at the 62nd minute when Doutie missed an open sitter. But soon calamity fell on them as Pronoy Halder was sent off after receiving a second booking for a late challenge on ATK skipper Borja Fernandez.

Things really looked tough for MCFC then as ATK applied much pressure after they were reduced to 10 men and at the 82nd minute they got their rewards as Javi Lara’s deflected strike looped into the corner.

With both sides sharing the spoils, both of them continue their undefeated streak. ATK will be the happier among the two teams getting a point away from home while MCFC will definitely feel unlucky not to have doubled their lead and being on the wrong end on the referee’s decision a couple of times.
