The Indian Eves kept good shape in the initial moments of the encounter and played with grit and denied Korea any room to manoeuvre attacks onto the Indian goal. Indian Keeper, Monika Devi, showed decent form and made a world class save to deny a Korean attack. However, Korea Republic took the lead at the stroke of the first quarter of the game when their forward lobbed the ball over an onrushing Monika Devi to make the scoreline read 1-0. Korea Republic found the net thrice before half-time as the India girls went into the tunnel trailing 4-0.
The turning moment in the match came when Renu squandered a chance to equalize in 26th minute. Soumya released Renu onto goal with an exquisite through ball which caught the Korean off guard. Renu however could not get any power behind her shot.
Early in the second half Bannya’s cross found Renu in the box, but Renu collided with the Korean defence line but referee did not pay heed to the penalty appeals by the Indian eves.
In the 60th minute, Grace’s freekick rattled the post and that was probably the closest the Indians came to scoring in the 90 minutes. Korea Republic extended their lead to five goals in the 64th minutes. Korea scored again in the 70th minute and in the 84th minute as the full-time scoreline read 7-0 in Korea Republic’s favour.
The Indian Eves have won two out of their four matches – against Malaysia and Northern Mariana Islands, while losing to Philippines and Korea Republic.
